.andi + jarrett, i love you

.Love is a funny thing. Sometimes it grows gradually and sometimes it is instant. When I saw Andi + Jarrett's wedding on 100 Layer Cake this week my heart skipped a massive beat. It was total and utter love in an instant. Let me take you though the reasons why:

.Bride wearing the same wedding dress as me, 'Faun' by Temperley London (mine is dove gray) - check!

.Bride, like me, opting for vintage fur bolero at summer wedding - check!

.Vintage sparkly bag (I am not even sure when I am going to carry mine but I have one anyway) - check!
.Hip, non-ugly bridally, shoes (she wore YSL, I have silver Louboutins) - check!

.Super chilled getting ready vibe - check!

.The amazingly talented one and only Max Wanger, my absolute favourite US based wedding snapper, to cover the day - check!

.Attention to detail - check!
Note: the fur stole doing its thing on a hot summers day. I am feeling less silly about mine now - it is going to look chic like Andi's (*crosses fingers and hopes!)

.Groomsmen in bow ties! I would so do this if I was in charge of our boys - alas I am not.

.Beautifully mis-matched, yet matching bridesmaids - check!

.Personalised wedding ceremony - check!

.Sartorially exceptional guests - check!

.1920s diamond ring (mine is 1920s Viennese Art Deco) - check!

.Famous friends to play music at your reception - check!

.Bride changing into amazing dress for the reception/dancing - check!

.To my dismay, this seems to have been deemed my most controversial wedding decision so far. I don't care how silly it sounds, I am having two dresses!

.Initially it was going to be a gorgeous Kenzo dress from work but I was not in the office on the sample sale day and lost out (I speak of samples because I am a fashion PR - I figured one of you MIGHT have been interested). So now it is going to be an original 1950s dress I found in Vienna for 2 Euros - yes, really, TWO Euros!

.Dancing the night away to great (non-cheesy) music - check!

.Seriously, this wedding, what's not to love?

For better details of what really went down at Andi + Jarrett's wedding please check out 100 Layer Cake, Max Wanger blog and the Flashdance blog. All photos by Max Wanger.

.flattered

source . rose & bredan's engagement shoot by marianne taylor
.I skipped all the way home from work yesterday smiling from ear to ear. Why? Firstly our amazingly talented (and super lovely) wedding photographer Marianne Taylor had written a blog post about all of her clients who are also bloggers and can you believe she included little old me? Not only that, but she said some incredibly kind things about my style! I am soooo flattered.

.As if that isn't wonderful enough, the UK wedding blogger queen herself Kat of Rock 'n' Roll Bride wrote under the post in the comments box "omg you have the coolest clients! i cant believe your (sic) photographing modern vintage bride and cherry blossom girls weddings! eeek". Can you believe that? Rock 'n' Roll Bride knows who I am! She knows my blog! I am so utterly flattered and amazed and blissfully happy!

.ruffled

.My original Art Deco bride inspiration is definitely Amanda of Ruffled blog fame.

.Amanda married photographer Matt in an art deco building in downtown Detroit. Not only was their wedding style effortlessly beautiful, they did the whole thing for just $15,000!

.I have definitely taken lots of inspiration from Amanda. She proves that a beautiful wedding does not have to cost an arm and a leg and that keeping things personal and intimate (they had 75 guests) is also the way to go.
.Best of all I love their DIY photobooth. What are great idea huh?
To read more about Amanda's vintage wedding check out the feature on Snippet & Ink or Amanda's blog Ruffled (one of my absolute favourites!)

.doppelgänger

source . max wanger via ...sending postcards
.One of my favourite wedding photographers is LA based Max Wanger.

.His photographs are so quirky and fun with a great vintage feel. Unfortunately, Max Wanger is stateside so Dr D. and I cannot have him for our wedding.

.Luckily there are a few great UK based photographers who work in a similarly beautiful style such as Marianne Taylor (who we have booked for day one of our wedding!).

.I was particularly struck by this, the latest engagement session posted on Max Wanger's blog as the couple Mina & Alex look a lot like Dr D. and I (if you squint - she is far more beautiful than I am!). Mina & Alex have a great story too. They have just quit their day jobs, got married and started travelling around the world. You can read all about it on their wonderful blog '...sending postcards'. Dr D. and I are in the opposite situation. After living in France, Japan and now Austria, we will actually be moving back home to the UK after our wedding and honeymoon. Aaah Home Sweet Home...!

.the bride wore flip flops

source . david mcneil photography
.More ruffle inspiration. I have no idea where the bride's dress and shrug are from but I love the slightly unusual colour. Furthermore she is wearing flat sandals from Accessorize (who I blogged about recently) which encourages me greatly as I am now planning to wear something similar with my wedding dress. Yes, there has been a change in my bridal shoe plans. This is due to the fact that my dress, though perfect, is not quite long enough for high heels.

This couple had a humanist wedding in Oxonhoath, Kent. I love the natural surroundings of their venue which suits the bride's outfit wonderfully. More of this wedding can be seen on photographer David McNeil's blog.
