.andi + jarrett, i love you

.Love is a funny thing. Sometimes it grows gradually and sometimes it is instant. When I saw Andi + Jarrett's wedding on 100 Layer Cake this week my heart skipped a massive beat. It was total and utter love in an instant. Let me take you though the reasons why:

.Bride wearing the same wedding dress as me, 'Faun' by Temperley London (mine is dove gray) - check!

.Bride, like me, opting for vintage fur bolero at summer wedding - check!

.Vintage sparkly bag (I am not even sure when I am going to carry mine but I have one anyway) - check!

.Hip, non-ugly bridally, shoes (she wore YSL, I have silver Louboutins) - check!

.Super chilled getting ready vibe - check!

.The amazingly talented one and only Max Wanger, my absolute favourite US based wedding snapper, to cover the day - check!

.Attention to detail - check!
Note: the fur stole doing its thing on a hot summers day. I am feeling less silly about mine now - it is going to look chic like Andi's (*crosses fingers and hopes!)

.Groomsmen in bow ties! I would so do this if I was in charge of our boys - alas I am not.

.Beautifully mis-matched, yet matching bridesmaids - check!

.Personalised wedding ceremony - check!

.Sartorially exceptional guests - check!

.1920s diamond ring (mine is 1920s Viennese Art Deco) - check!

.Famous friends to play music at your reception - check!

.Bride changing into amazing dress for the reception/dancing - check!

.To my dismay, this seems to have been deemed my most controversial wedding decision so far. I don't care how silly it sounds, I am having two dresses!

.Initially it was going to be a gorgeous Kenzo dress from work but I was not in the office on the sample sale day and lost out (I speak of samples because I am a fashion PR - I figured one of you MIGHT have been interested). So now it is going to be an original 1950s dress I found in Vienna for 2 Euros - yes, really, TWO Euros!

.Dancing the night away to great (non-cheesy) music - check!

.Seriously, this wedding, what's not to love?

.hayden & hair

.Today is a special day. Today is the day that, after months of browsing online, I finally bought my first ever item from Etsy! I had been lusting over 'Hayden' from Etsy vendor LoBoheme for weeks. It is a 1960s brooch which has been converted into a hair comb.

.I love that it is pretty but not too obviously 'bridal' i.e. no flowers or butterflies in sight. I also love the fact that the slightly unusual shape is exactly the same shape as the perspex embellishments on my wedding dress.

.Why stop with just one Etsy purchase? I also bought one yard (90cm) of silver birdcage veil fabric from YJPaw which I plan to use to make a birdcage veil to rival the brilliance of Drew Barrymore's look at the Grey Gardens premiere (regular readers of this blog may have noticed that I am rather obsessed with that outfit).
Silvery/grey birdcage veils are a real challenge to find so I thought making one would be my best bet, especially seen as I am still not 100% sure that it will suit me (I have talked about this topic before too). The hope is that by attaching the 'Hayden' comb to the veil and making it detachable, I will be able to take the veil off after the ceremony and keep the comb in my hair for the rest of the wedding day.

.We are getting married in London so even though our wedding is in June we have not ruled out the possibility of rain. One can NEVER rule out the possibility of rain in London. However, I might even welcome rain on our wedding day if it means I get to use these fab umbrellas!

.Even though we are getting married in June I love the fluffy feather bolero look so I bought one for my wedding dress last weekend. It is by Coast and called the 'Felicity Feather Bolero'. Coast no longer have the grey for sale online but I came across this Julie Kim photo of some winter wedding bridesmaids wearing it (well, I think it is my bolero anyway). It really reminds me of Drew Barrymoore's wonderful 1930s inspired outfit for the Grey Gardens premiere. Now, I just hope I can pull off this look in the middle of summer....

.American designer Jennifer Behr makes the coolest vintage inspired hairbands and hair crystals. Popular with the cast of Gossip Girl and celebrities, she also does a great bridal collection. I have decided to buy the 'Crystal Wing' hair clip to wear either after I take off my veil on the first day of our wedding or with the original 1950s ivory and gold dress I will be wearing on the second day of our wedding.

.Recently, Natalie Portman was photographed wearing the pin. Isn't it stunning? I love the versatility of it, and it comes in several colours. I am still trying to decide between Antique and Crystal Gunnmetal.

.The Jennifer Behr birdcage veils are wonderful too but very expensive at $675!

.I came across this beautiful image via something old, something new a while ago and have had it in my inspiration file ever since. The overall styling of the shoot is to die for. So elegant and luxurious. Apparently the shawl is by a designer called Megan Park. I am certainly considering having some kind of shawl or wrap over my dress. Not least because it adds to the old hollywood glamour look I would like to achieve. But also because London can be chilly, even in the summer!

.This morning I fell head-over-heels in love with new label Old Soul, New Heart. They make the most beautiful vintage inspired headbands I have seen in a while. I can't even begin to decide which one I would go for. Could I wear all of them on my wedding day, changing them round every hour? Some of you may have read my previous post about potentially becoming a double veil bride, this label is making that crazy idea more and more probable.
