.town hall

.I always knew I wanted to be a town hall bride. Dr. D. and I live in between TWO churches in Vienna but never ever go to church, despite the fact that I was raised Catholic and he Church of England. A church wedding was always going to be out of the question. Luckily there are several beautiful town halls (that is like city hall if you are a Yank) to chose from in London so there was no stress there. Here are our top three choices:

.Old Marylebone Town Hall, London NW1

.Famed for its celebrity weddings from Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman to the rather less successful marriage of Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit, Westminster Register Office as it is officially known has rock 'n' roll cache and beautiful marble columns. It is the perfect location for the hipster couple who want a bit of traditional splendor. I love the art deco style Purple Marriage Room best.

.Islington Town Hall, N1

.Islington Town Hall has a round marriage room called the council's chamber. Is there anything more romantic than getting married in a circular room while your closest family and friends surround you with their love?

.Chelsea Old Town Hall, SW3

.Chelsea Town Hall is eternally popular. It suits brides who want a chic yet low-fi ceremony. Its location on the King's Road places it a stones throw from some of London's most stylish shops and boutiques in Sloane Square. In keeping with its location this bride wore Vivienne Westwood and Christian Louboutins for her wedding before heading off to Soho House for her reception.
