.butterflies & flowers

source . martha stewart weddings via once wed
.I still haven't decided on my 'wedding colours'.
.I don't think it really matters that much, yet, from the minute we got engaged people started asking me "What are your wedding colours?!" with an look of intense concern, as if my answer will determine the entire future happiness of Dr D. and I.

.My current top colour scheme choices are: black and ivory with teal, purple or just black and ivory. I worry that the use of black, although I think it is super chic, could end up looking miserable and my issue with purple is that although it is my favourite colour, as a lapsed Catholic, it still reminds me of funerals. So at present teal is my top colour choice.

.However, this beautiful wedding which was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings (La Stewart was also a guest at the wedding) and Once Wed, has made me think about ditching the classic one or two colour scheme idea and instead going for a fabric or pattern as the theme. It looks lovely doesn't it?

.I am madly in love with this bride's wedding style. I am sure I do not need to elaborate on why. Ben Blood's photos really speak for themselves.

.Tiffany's monochrome colour scheme works perfectly with her retro style wedding gown. It was this wedding which helped me to finally make a decision between a 1930s style gown and a 1950s style gown - I will wear both!

.My original Art Deco bride inspiration is definitely Amanda of Ruffled blog fame.

.Amanda married photographer Matt in an art deco building in downtown Detroit. Not only was their wedding style effortlessly beautiful, they did the whole thing for just $15,000!

.I have definitely taken lots of inspiration from Amanda. She proves that a beautiful wedding does not have to cost an arm and a leg and that keeping things personal and intimate (they had 75 guests) is also the way to go.
.Best of all I love their DIY photobooth. What are great idea huh?
To read more about Amanda's vintage wedding check out the feature on Snippet & Ink or Amanda's blog Ruffled (one of my absolute favourites!)

.blue pearls

.I am in love with these pearls on a blue ribbon. We are yet to decide completely on the wedding colours (black and white will probably be the base) but I am considering this tone of blue. It is so rich.

.for sale

.As you may remember from a previous post, due to my indecision I currently have two wedding dresses. Both unworn of course. I have now decided to sell my vintage style lace dress for a very good price so if anyone is interested (or just wants to have a nosey) please head over to my eBay posting here. I only have three days to go until the sale ends. I have never used eBay before, it is rather exciting!

.bolero

source . julie kim photography
.Even though we are getting married in June I love the fluffy feather bolero look so I bought one for my wedding dress last weekend. It is by Coast and called the 'Felicity Feather Bolero'. Coast no longer have the grey for sale online but I came across this Julie Kim photo of some winter wedding bridesmaids wearing it (well, I think it is my bolero anyway). It really reminds me of Drew Barrymoore's wonderful 1930s inspired outfit for the Grey Gardens premiere. Now, I just hope I can pull off this look in the middle of summer....

.doppelgänger

source . max wanger via ...sending postcards
.One of my favourite wedding photographers is LA based Max Wanger.

source . max wanger via ...sending postcards
.His photographs are so quirky and fun with a great vintage feel. Unfortunately, Max Wanger is stateside so Dr D. and I cannot have him for our wedding.

source . max wanger via ...sending postcards
.Luckily there are a few great UK based photographers who work in a similarly beautiful style such as Marianne Taylor (who we have booked for day one of our wedding!).

.I was particularly struck by this, the latest engagement session posted on Max Wanger's blog as the couple Mina & Alex look a lot like Dr D. and I (if you squint - she is far more beautiful than I am!). Mina & Alex have a great story too. They have just quit their day jobs, got married and started travelling around the world. You can read all about it on their wonderful blog '...sending postcards'. Dr D. and I are in the opposite situation. After living in France, Japan and now Austria, we will actually be moving back home to the UK after our wedding and honeymoon. Aaah Home Sweet Home...!
