.engagement

source . refinery29

.Audrey Gingras founder of New York fashion showroom Archetype held what would be my dream engagement party. Her dress code was Art Deco and guests partied at the beautiful (and yet to be opened) The Gates members only club.

Dr.D and I have considered having an engagement party, and it is still an option, but finding a venue which my family will all be happy with has been a challenge. The engagement party is also important to me because only a few of my 50 strong family have met him!

Venues I would love for the engagement party are:

Prism London
I love its 1920s glamour and the fact that it is housed in the former Bank of New York.

The Albion
Charming English pub and according to my sunday bible The Observer, the absolute best place for a sunday roast.

RS Lounge
It is local, and I love the riviera feel.

.Once a classic British institution famous for its lavender perfumes and soaps Yardley sadly has its best days behind it. But now Here Design in collaboration with the Future Lab have created a hypothetical redesign of its packaging for the modern market. I LOVE the 1930s art nouveau influence. Here is their explanation of the designs: "The intention with the design was to revisit Yardley's glory days in the 1920s and 30s, when it moved with the times and started trends rather than followed them – it was an aspirational, innovative and sensual brand"

.every morning i wake up next to dr. d (except for when i am in london and he is in vienna). how lucky am i?

.heart

source . unknown

.cassie & paul are adorable. i don't know them. but i wish i did. they are an australian couple i found on vintage glam weddings. her dress is so cute and matches her hair perfectly. perhaps i should wear a short dress. i am only 5 ft 3" after all

.green

.if ever there was a dress which embodied all that i loved about 1930s style it would be Cecilia Tallis' (Keira Knightley) gorgeous emerald green gown in Atonement (2007). oh how i wish i was flat chested enough to wear this master piece

.louboutin

.like a lot of women i dreamed of walking down the aisle in louboutins. this clearly art deco inspired pair is my dream wedding shoe. it reminds me of the chrysler building. sadly it is out of my budget.

.coco

.this film is going to have a huge influence over the styling of our wedding. i just know

.london

.we are getting married in london. it makes sense. it is my home town. we hope to live there one day together. maybe even raise children there. our apartment is in vienna though. and before that we lived in tokyo (that should rhyme if you say it right)

.what zelda would have worn

source . jenny packham

.from the moment i got engaged and started looking at dresses ( i admit it, i bought every. single. bridal magazine at gatwick airport) i knew i wanted a jenny packham dress. she makes the most elegant, 1930s inspired gowns. they are the type of gowns i image zelda fitzgerald would have worn while partying to destruction with f. scott. i doubt our humble credit crunch budget can stretch to such a gown though, so perhaps it will be a home made copy... (is that illegal?)

.i love melvin

.i am in love with this couple. their wedding embodies everything i think a modern vintage wedding is. having visualised my perfect wedding i found melissa and vincent's (melvin) wedding and my dreams were brought it to life. even her engagement ring is similar to mine! new yorkers with super style or what?!

.art deco

source . anna beckman

.after 4 years of bliss, he proposed. in berlin. the ring is 1930s viennese art deco. my favourite era. he knows me so well. our wedding shall be art deco too. and perfect. but perhaps not as perfect as him.
